Lion Ledger Newspaper Joins Press Assoc.
by: LLS • January 29, 2010
The Lion Ledger, the online student newspaper of St. Leo the Great, is now a member of the National Elementary Schools Press Association (NESPA)– an organization of elementary and middle schools around the nation which run student newspapers.
One of NESPA’s goals is a commitment to improve the writing skills of students in elementary and middle school. Real-life writing experience in student publications — from class newsletters to school newspapers — is encouraged as studies show that students’ writing improves when they write regularly for an audience.
“I am pleased to welcome The Lion Ledger as the newest member of NESPA. I wish you well as you continue to publish your fine newspaper,” said NESPA executive director Mark Levin. “It’s wonderful that you publish online which gives the whole world a chance to see what you are doing at St. Leo the Great.”
St. Leo’s newspaper is currently in its second year in print and is found only on the web.
