Choir Carols for Alameda Care Center Residents

ALAMEDA— St. Leo the Great’s Gospel Choir was at the Alameda Care Center on Friday, December 3 to sing Christmas carols for the elderly which is a holiday tradition for the choir every year.

The choir sang a lot of songs. They sang Christmas time favorites like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Silver Bells.” There was even a special solo by 8th grade student Devohn Moore who sang “Oh, Holy Night.”

The choir also sang gospel songs like “Go Tell it on the Mountain” which had three soloists in it: 6th grade student Alinda Amuiri, 7th grade student Alisa Jones, and 8th grade student Zyhir Brown (the editor-in-chief of this newspaper!). It was a very good performance.

The elderly people that live in the care center enjoyed it very much. Some just watched but a lot of them sang along with the choir during the familiar songs.

The Alameda Care Center held the event for a tree lighting ceremony. It wasn’t just the choir that performed though. There were also different groups of adult performers singing Christmas jingles that night. St. Leo’s Gospel Choir is the special guest every year.
