Remembering Those Who Served Our Country

Saint Leo the Great students, teachers, and staff will be off today to observe a holiday in honor of Veterans Day which took place on Wednesday.

Some schools in the Oakland Diocese had Monday off, while others took the day off on the actual day itself. But no matter what day was chosen, the important thing to remember is it is a holiday in honor of those who served our country.

Veterans of past wars both living and who have passed away, and also in honor of people currently serving in the military.

(Last school year, back in April, the Class of 2009 took a week-long trip to Washington, D.C. to learn more about our nation’s history. One of their stops was the Marine Corps War Memorial where an 8th grader took the photo above).
